miniCASTER® goes RTMP!
With it´s new firmware update, which will be released on April 3, 2012, the first, truly mobile Audio/Videoencoder, in pocket size, will expand it´s usability dramatically.
NABShow is just around the corner, therefore we think it is the perfect timing to introduce this major step on our roadmap today.
Actually running on the RTP protocol, the implementation of the additional RTMP protocol opens new gates for miniCASTER® users, when they need to send their stream to the internet. Now, every miniCASTER® can ingest to the major players in the streaming media market, because most of the market leading content delivery networks like Akamai, Limelight, Level 3, TV1.EU and self-streaming platforms like livestream.com, ustream.com and justin.tv accept the RTMP protocol.
miniCASTER® clients benefit from the main features of this release:
Streaming option RTMP*
Stream to your favourite live platform using the widely supported RTMP protocol
Streaming option TS
Stream a MPEG2-TS via UDP without RTP wrapping
For users, who operate their own video server infrastructure, miniCASTER® can now ingest to the Adobe Media Server, which only accepts RTMP, too. This extension will have massive impact on almost any kind of application using our miniCASTER®.
Beside these features you will recognize:
- Increased stability for 3G/4G streaming
Local browser interface
- Significant speed improvements of startup
- Added scanning for Wifi networks
“We are happy to provide our miniCASTER® users a new feature, which brings them total freedom by choosing the destination for ingest and delivery. This is real value for them and its for free”, explains Michael Westphal (46), CEO and Co-Founder of miniCASTER®

miniCASTER® is a truly mobile hardware based H.264 HD camera-top live encoder in pocket size that converts any camera or video source signal into an IP based livestream and delivers it via landline, dualband WiFi, satellite or 3G/4G networks to the leading Content Delivery Networks and video platforms. Through a built-in lithium battery it is possible to work stand-alone. miniCASTER® generates one HD and one SD Stream in parallel and is able to record on SD-Card in the device itself at the same time. The miniCASTER® encoder in pocket size comes in two different versions and can be operated in real-time via a web-based remote management portal.
